Melvin Jones Lions Eye Hospital
I was elected as the Secretary of the Eye Hospital Trust in September 2017 and subsequently took over the executive charge of the administration.
I, as a lifetime member, have been closely associated with the Hospital from the very beginning. I remember the challenging days of the super cyclone, when all local disaster relief activities were coordinated directly from this hospital site, and more than 15 million Rupees worth of relief material was dispatched to cyclone-affected areas from here. Actually, at that time, the hospital was our second home, where we stayed for 14 to 16 hours each day. I was serving as the President of the Lions Club in its 25th year, which marked our celebrated Silver Jubilee Year.
I was also deeply involved in the hospital administration in various capacities, including serving as Vice Chairman, Committee Chairman, and coordinating other clinical activities. It gives me immense pleasure to associate myself with this great service venture.
Our Hospital is working very efficiently and its financial position is exceptionally stable. We have certain plans for the future, and I am confident that with the help and cooperation of all our friends and well-wishers, we shall successfully achieve them.
